Walter “Dale” Workman Jr., 83, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at the Claremore Veterans Center in Claremore, Oklahoma.
Walter was born December 31, 1938, at Picher, Oklahoma, to Walter Workman Sr. and Leona Lucille (Williams) Workman. Walter grew up in Picher, Oklahoma and graduated with the Cleora High School class of 1957. After graduation, Walter moved to Oregon and worked for GP Lumber company. In March of 1961, he joined the United States Air Force, serving for four years. While in the service, he married Bonnie Johnson on October 11, 1962, in Miami, OK. After being discharged, Walter moved to Leasburg, Oregon. He then moved to Oklahoma in 1968 and has been a resident since.
Walter was employed by the US Army Corp of Engineers, as the facility manager of Five Lake, where he worked for 20 years, retiring in 2006.
Walter was a member of the First Church of God, the American Legion Post 101, and the Nowata Nimble Feet Square Dance Club.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents; Walter Workman Sr. and Leona Lucille (Williams) Workman, his grandparents, E.M. and Belle Workman, Raymond and Sybil Baker who raised him, sister Delores Wickham, in-laws, Leo and Edith Johnson, stepmother in-law, Sue Johnson, and son, Paul Workman.
Walter is survived by his wife, Bonnie of the home, his son, Mike Workman and wife, Fawn of Nowata, Oklahoma, daughter, Patty Workman of Delaware, Oklahoma, granddaughter, Katie Seney and husband, Jason of Skiatook, Oklahoma, grandson, Cody Workman and wife, Brittney of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, great-granddaughter, Kayleigh Workman of Broken Arrow, great-grandson, Colton Workman of Broken Arrow, great-granddaughter, Clara Seney of Skiatook, Oklahoma and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services for Walter “Dale” Workman will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Church of God, 408 S. Pine, Nowata. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Legion Post 101, 506 W. Shawnee Ave. Nowata, OK 74048 or the First Church of God, 408 S. Pine St. Nowata, OK 74048.
