Wanda Clasby

August 21, 1929 — June 14, 2008

Wanda Jean Smith-Clasby, 78-year-old Nowata resident, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2008 at the Osage Nursing Home in Nowata. Wanda Jean Clasby was born August 21, 1929 in Hollis, Oklahoma to Lee Smith and Mamie Prock-Smith. She grew up and attended schools in Hollis where she graduated from Hollis High School. She later met and married Freddie Lee "Buck" Clasby on June 11, 1949 in Childress, Texas. After Mr. Clasby's discharge from the military, they moved to the Alluwe area where they lived since. While in this area, Mrs. Clasby worked for the First National Bank as a teller until her retirement in 1989. She loved bowling, sewing and cooking. But, the greatest love in her life was spending time with her family. Mrs. Clasby is survived by two children, Judy Clasby of Nowata and George Clasby of Stillwater; by four grandchildren, Donnell Phifer of Nowata, Charity Clasby of Pawnee, Phillip Clasby and his wife Barbara of Pawnee, and Kristy Clasby of Bartlesville; by five great-grandchildren, Athena Phifer, Rhianon Phifer, Heather Clasby, Gage Clasby, and Cayla Clasby; by three sisters-in-law, Edna Pool of Nowata, Betty Vaughan of Alluwe, and Clara Ward of Houston; by a special nephew, Tuffy Smith of Wichita Falls; and by special friends, Wanda and Victoria Barham. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, "Buck" Clasby; by three brothers, Coy, Truman, and Roscoe; by a sister, Irene Cummings; and by a grandson, Brian.
