Wanda Lee Shearer

Wanda Lee Shearer, 92-year-old Nowata resident, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2024, at home surrounded by family. She was born October 26, 1932, in Hazen, Arkansas to Dale and Dorthy Carter (Carter).

Full of love, laughter and resilience, she touched the life of all who knew her. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom and love. She was a baptized Jehovah's Witness and found great joy in attending meetings and sharing her faith with others.

Wanda grew up in Nowata, later moving to Tahlequah. Recently, she moved back to Nowata to be close to family. Wanda was married to Clifton Shearer until his death in 2013.

Wanda is survived by her children, Billy Barnes, Bobby Barnes, Teresa Wilson, and Terry Barnes, all of Nowata; brother, Bob Carter of Nowata; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Shearer; daughter, Sherry Reece; siblings, Barbara Joyce, Betty Smith, Donna Hash, Krisida Ewers, and Darrel Carter.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, November 14, 2024, at 2:00 PM in McMains Cemetery with Brother Harold Cheek officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemoriesnowata.com or on the funeral home Facebook page.
