Benjamin Funeral Service - Nowata, Oklahoma - 918-273-2700....................................................... Wendell Lue Hicks, 80-year-old Nowata resident, passed away at The Journey Home, in Bartlesville, Wednesday, June 28, 2017. He was born in Childers, Oklahoma February 2, 1937 to Walter and Eva Jane (Adamson) Hicks. Lue was a 1955 graduate of Childers High School. He joined the Air Force in 1957 and served his country with honor. After his service he moved back to Nowata where he worked as a deputy sheriff in Nowata County, and was a truck driver for many years. Mr. Hicks was married four times throughout his life to Wendy Meek, Barbara King, Linda Hesslen and then again to Wendy. Barbara and Linda preceded him in death. Lue was a fun loving man who enjoyed fishing, playing poker, riding motorcycles, as well as playing and listening to music. He really loved hanging out with family and friends. Lue was very protective of his family and would stand up for them whenever needed. He will be missed by his family and friends. Mr. Hicks is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Eva Jane Hicks; children, Steve Vincent, Susan Lange, Scott Vincent, Terry Blankenship; siblings, Walter, Howard, Delbert, Jim, and Ancil Hicks, Jewell Loughry, Evelyn Hughes, Barbara Bray, Allene Hughes, Nelsene Hicks, Eva Jean Green; and grandchildren, Wendell Lue Hicks III, Roze and Elizabeth Hicks. Survivors include children, Walter Heaviland of North Carolina, Paul Hicks of Nowata, Jim Hicks and wife Luz of Talala, Wendell Hicks and wife Angela of Nowata, Vernon Hicks and wife Tracy of Nowata, Sheryl Vincent and husband David of Florida, Debbie Blankenship of Bartlesville, Pam Wohlford and husband Rick of Bartlesville and Jimmy Blankenship of Bartlesville; 35 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; siblings, Paul Hicks, Vernon Hicks, Lorene Corle, and Ruby "Noni" Collier; many other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services for Wendell Lue Hicks will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 30, 2017 at The Benjamin Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will follow at Martin Cemetery.
