Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home - Langley - 918-256-5555 W. F. "Mandy" McGlasson-Bates, 74 year old Disney resident, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at her home. She was born on March 9, 1940 in Kingfisher, Oklahoma to Charles Everett and Gerritdena Jenny (Van der graaf) Murphy. Mandy worked at the Journal-Record in Oklahoma City for many years, later when she moved to Disney, she opened the Praise the Porch and Dollar Blooming-Deals stores. Mandy was married to Dennis Bates, who preceded her in death on June 19, 2014. They had made their home in Disney for the past 30 years. Mandy loved to volunteer her services at the Blue House, and other community services. She was a sponsoring member of AA, and enjoyed visiting with her many friends. Mandy was a very special person and was known by many in her sporty little car around the south Grand Lake area. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, a son, Bond McGlasson, a brother, Arnold Kim Murphy. The family includes her children: Clay McGlasson of Baton Rouge, LA, Domni Newton of Phoenix, AZ, Courtney Goss of Disney; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Otterbein Methodist Church near Ketchum, with Pastor Jim Bradford officiating.
