Willetta Mildred Diamond Gibson, 85, died on New Year's Day, 5:30 p.m. at Heritage Villa Nursing Home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 5 at First Assembly of God, 900 S Dewey, Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The service will be officiated by her son, Gary Gibson, assisted by Pastor Bret Luallen of Tuxedo Assembly of God. Until the time of the funeral, her body will lie in state for visitation at Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home, 710 SE Dewey. (Hours: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday) There will not be a graveside service, but she will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Willetta was born to parents Troy and Floy (Cochran) Diamond on January 17, 1924 in Olvey, Arkansas. She graduated from Central High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma and during, World War II, attended college at Central Bible Institute in Springfield, Missouri. She was married to Fred Gibson on August 31, 1946 in Fredonia, Kansas. During their 53 years of marriage they lived in Bartlesville, Tulsa and Atlanta, Georgia. She had variety of jobs over the years. Immediately preceding her retirement in 1983 she worked as a clerk for Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville. Willetta's life was far more than a series of personal facts and accomplishments. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. Her very existence grew out of her deep love for God and sharing that love with those around her. She was extremely selfless and even during the last and most difficult part of her life she lived for others. Her quick wit and deep compassion lifted the spirits of so many of the ones who had an opportunity to meet her. She will be missed but her life will live on in those whose lives she touched. Survivors are her children Gary Gibson and his wife Nancy of Bartlesville; Cecelia Harness and her husband Ron of Tulsa; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; her parents, Troy and Floy Diamond and her sister Wanda Elmore. Donations can be made in Willetta's honor to Gideons International. P.O. Box 3143 Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74003. Willetta's New Year's Resolution was to begin her eternity in heaven...and she accomplished just that.
