Willilam Roberts

William S. Roberts, age 84, passed away on July 7, 2015 in Grove, Oklahoma. William was born on March 8, 1931 in Chickasha, Oklahoma; he was the son on Willie and Lula (Hillard) Roberts. William graduated from Chickasha high school and received his bachelor's degree from The University of Tulsa. William had quite the career playing professional football. His career started in 1953 playing for the Chicago Bears, and then he played for the United States Marines during his service. After his discharge, William went on to play for the L.A. Rams and the Calgary Stampeders in Canada. William met the love of his life Delores J. Barnard in Tulsa in 1956 and they were united in marriage in 1957 during his career in Canada. William and Delores had lived in Grove during the 80's and had moved to Claremore, Oklahoma. They decided to come back to the lake in 2009. William loved to fish, golf and hunt. William was preceded in death by his parents; he is survived by his wife Delores Roberts of the home, two children Greg Roberts of Nowata, Oklahoma and Sherri Cox of Verdigris, Oklahoma, two siblings Frank Roberts of Claremore, Oklahoma and Jocelyn Burnett of Midwest City, Oklahoma. William was blessed with four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Cedar Oaks Clubhouse in Grove, Oklahoma with Chaplain Eddy Sowders officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard. Friends and family may leave online condolences by viewing Williams obituary at www.honoringmemories.com.
