Wilma Ward

April 19, 1933 — December 21, 2019

Wilma Marie (Hazen) Ward, 86, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2019 at the Grandwood Assisted Living Facility in Grove, Oklahoma.

Wilma was born March 19, 1933 in Saint Paul, KS to Roy E. and Gertrude L. (Pantle) Hazen.  She grew up in the Saint Paul area, later moving to Scotia, California.

Wilma owned and operated Wilma’s Grill in St. Paul for 15 years.  On February 19, 1950 she and Donald L. Ward were married in Erie, KS.  They lived in Scotia, CA, St. Paul, and Parsons, KS area most of their life.  They moved to Grand Lake, Oklahoma where they enjoyed fishing, boating, cooking meals and baking pies for all the family and playing cards/ bingo with all the grandkids.  She volunteered as a “Cherry Red” at Integris Grove Hospital and the Grove Garden Club.  She loved her flowers and garden.

Surviving are two children; a son Roy Ward and his wife Lou Ann of Branson West, Missouri.   A daughter Janice Norris and her husband Nick of Grove, Oklahoma.  A daughter-in-law Pamela Ward of Parsons, Kansas.   Five grandchildren; Justin Norris and his wife Lisa of Blue Springs, Missouri,  Nicole Mustain and her husband Shaun of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Maggie Clay and her husband Ryan of Lee’s Summit, Missouri,  Kyle Ward of Phoenix, Arizona, and Mindy Queen and her husband Nathan of Parsons, Kansas.  Nine great-grandchildren and two brothers, Leroy “Bill” Hazen and his wife Rose of Grove, Oklahoma and Buford Hazen and wife Pat of Chanute, Kansas.

Preceding her in death were her husband Don, three brothers; George Hazen, Richard Hazen and Warren Hazen and sisters; Verda Jean Hazen and Arlene M. Thornton, and a son Richard Ward.

A Graveside service will be a 2 PM, Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Hope Cemetery in St. Paul following the service they will receive friends at the St. Paul Senior Citizen Building.
